Riders

To become a new rider in Appalachian Therapeutic Riding Center's therapeutic program, contact us at the barn, 828 675-5630828 675-5630, home, 675-5814, or e-mail us at atrcriding@gmail.com.  We will direct you on how to apply by downloading the necessary forms from the website.

For our regular riders, you can find all the necessary forms, that must be updated each year, under the Forms link.  You can fill them out before the session and bring them with you to the first lesson.  Just remember that we MUST have updated forms before you can ride.  If you are unsure if your forms need an update, call the barn, 675-5814 or e-mail us at atrcriding@gmail.com.

Regular horseback riding lessons are offered to first time or novice riders.  If you are interested call or e-mail for lesson times, dates, and cost.

ATRC has served clients with cerebral palsy, Downs syndrome, brain injury, autism, speech and hearing impairments, learning disabilities, mental illness, behaviorial issues, and depression.  We have physical, occupational, and speech therapists that participate in sessions on a regular basis.  In therapeutic riding, riding instructors are teaching riding skills.  Therapists are used as consultants, and the riders receive therapeutic benefits.

Cost

The cost to the rider for an eight week therapeutic riding session is $200.00.  Scholarships are available.  If you would like to apply for a scholarship, please see the scholar ship link.  Also, if a family has more than one child qualified for ATRC riding,  there may be a cost adjustment.  Payment is expected at the time service is provided.  Payment may be made in full at beginning of a session, made in several installments during a session, or paid at each lesson.   ATRC is committed to providing this service to all who wish to participate.  If more financial aid is needed, then additional funds may be available.
